New Rules To Speed Municipal Review of Development Plans in NJ

New Rules To Speed Municipal Review of Development Plans To be Published in The New Jersey Register June 18

The new regulations by the Department of Community Affairs will give local code officials 20 days to review building plans and return them to a developer with conditions for approval. With the goal of streamlining local approvals and adding predictability to commercial development, the new regulations are a big benefit to construction schedules and tenant moves and are part of several rule changes beneficial to developers. The rules will also increase the maximum allowable travel distance to an exit in industrial buildings. This change, from 250 to 400 feet will assist those developing larger and deeper distribution centers.
