USEPA Brownfields Program Information and Legal Services

As per the USEPA website

The Brownfields Program creates many benefits for local communities, as highlighted below. For additional details, read the summary of EPA Brownfields Program Benefits (PDF) (1 pg, 92K, about PDF).

  • Projects leveraged $17.39 per EPA dollar expended
  • Leveraged 67,403 jobs nationwide
  • Stormwater runoff from brownfields redevelopment is 47 to 62 percent lower than alternative greenfields scenarios
  • Can increase residential property values 2 to 3 percent when nearby brownfields are addressed
  • Promotes area-wide planning

Also per the USEPA website - Brownfields are real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant. Cleaning up and reinvesting in these properties protects the environment, reduces blight, and takes development pressures off greenspaces and working lands. On this site, you can find information about US EPA's Brownfields Program including the Brownfields Law, Brownfields Grants, Land Revitalization Information, and more....

The Law Office of Christopher D. Hopkins, LLC. has substantial experience in returning contaminated properties, or "Brownfields", to beneficial use. Brownfield transactions require the creation of a practical business deal that works for all parties involved. The firm achieves the risk management objectives of clients and ensures economic returns by negotiating and drafting contractual arrangements to allocate past and future liabilities and integrating redevelopment and land use entitlements with the remediation process. Notably, Mr. Hopkins is also very well versed in negotiating site pollution liability insurance coverage, which is often essential to the success of contaminated property transactions.  Please contact us to discuss your project.
